In preparation for the establishment of RUGA villages in Zamfara, the state administration has finalized preparations to import goats and cows from South Africa and Norway.
Bello Matawalle, the state governor, made the announcement during a stakeholders’ training and mobilization on RUGA Development in Kaura Namoda on Wednesday.
The animals would be kept at an RUGA colony in the Maradun local government area, according to Matawalle, who was represented by the state Commissioner of Forestry and Livestock Development, Dr. Ibrahim Abdullahi, as part of the government’s efforts to develop RUGA settlements in the state.
He said: “We have since placed an order and the animals would arrive in the state soon.
He also said that N2.4 billion was spent on the development of RUGA in the Maradun Local Government Area.
The governor announced that N8.6 billion had been put aside for the construction of RUGA villages across the state’s three senatorial zones.
