Dr. Muhammad Tukur Sani Jangebe, Zamfara State Commissioner of Religious Affairs and Chief Imam of the Muslims Foundation Jumu’at Mosque in Gusau, the state capital, has asked the Federal Government to act on the Academic Staff Union of Universities’ requests (ASUU).
Sheikh Jangebe declared this in Gusau while responding to press queries.
The strike, he claimed, was causing havoc on the country’s whole teaching and learning system, particularly among students and instructors.
“The Federal Government should look into negotiating with ASUU and bringing back our children to their respective universities for them to continue with their studies.
“Everyone knows that the contribution teachers are giving to nation building can never be overemphasized and we are calling on the government to provide a mechanism to boost their morale,” he said.
He also urged parents and teachers at various educational institutions to increase their prayers.
The Chief Imam also urged the Federal Government to investigate the colleges of education union’s ultimatum in order to save the country’s education system from catastrophic collapse.
