Before the 2023 elections, youths in Lagos State are rallying to support the All Progressives Congress’ (APC) candidates for governor of the state, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, and for president, Bola Tinubu.
The youths marched from Maryland on Mobolaji Bank Anthony route to Police College via Ikeja, the state capital, carrying various APC paraphernalia including brooms and flags.
They were also spotted carrying enormous banners with striking images of Sanwo-Olu and his running mate, Obafemi Hamzat, and Tinubu and his running mate, Kashim Shettima.
Numerous policemen from the Nigeria Police Force (NPF), the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA), and the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps were heavily represented during the march known as the “Eko Youth Walk For Tinubu.”

In a warning on Friday, LASTMA said that owing to the march, some routes in the state capital and surrounding areas will be temporarily closed to traffic on Saturday.
Former governor of Lagos from 1999 to 2007, Tinubu is a leading candidate for the top position at Aso Rock, competing against Atiku Abubakar of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and Peter Obi of the Labour Party (LP) in what observers have dubbed a “three-horse race.”
In a similar vein, Sanwo-Olu, the current governor of Lagos, is running with Hamzat for reelection. Olajide Adediran of the PDP, better known by his stage name Jandor, is Sanwo-main Olu’s rival to date.
Nyesom Wike, the governor of Rivers State and a prominent PDP figure, recently backed Sanwo-Olu.
