The National Working Committee (NWC) of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has come under fire from Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State for suspending Ayo Fayose over claims of anti-party activity.
In a press conference with media on Thursday in Port Harcourt, Wike asserted that the party’s NWC lacks the authority to suspend Mr. Fayose and others or to report Mr. Ortom to a disciplinary committee.

The governor also criticised the NWC’s choice to call Samuel Ortom, the governor of Benue State, to testify before a disciplinary committee over a similar charge of anti-party activity. Ortom “will not appear before any alleged disciplinary committee,” he declared.
Iyorchia Ayu, the party’s national chairman, should be suspended, according to Wike, for defying the party’s zoning of political posts provisions.
He said that Ayu had just started “the mother of all political wars” and that Ayu had also failed to deliver his political ward and voting unit during the just ended general elections.
