Reports that Nyesom Wike is planning to leave the PDP have prompted him to respond. Nyesom Wike was the immediate past Governor of Rivers State.
Along with his counterpart from Oyo State, Seyi Makinde, and a former governor of Delta State, James Ibori, Wike met with President Bola Tinubu on Friday. During their meeting, Wike rejected any intention of leaving the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) for the All Progressives Congress (APC).

In response to a question from State House reporters about whether joining the APC was on the agenda of the meeting, Wike said: “No. There are no plans. Nothing of the such was planned, he said, while insisting that he only visited Tinubu to offer him support four days after he was sworn-in as the president of Nigeria.
“We are Nigerians and we have come to give the president support. That is what is required. There is no big deal about that.”
