Amaka Ekwo, a former press secretary to Nnamdi Kanu, the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, has warned the secessionist organisation against disrupting the general elections in the south east in 2023.
On Tuesday, Ekwo argued that disrupting elections in the south east is unhelpful in a series of tweets.
IPOB should push people in the Southeast to vote in the 2023 elections, according to Ekwo.
She claimed that if IPOB blocked the Southeast from voting in the general election in 2023, the Labour Party’s presidential nominee, Peter Obi, would be on the receiving end.
If IPOB blocks the Southeast from voting in the general election in 2023, Ekwo believes a referendum will be impossible to obtain.
She wrote: “We must be careful. Any attempt to stop the election in Biafra-land will not be good for IPOB. If IPOB puts @PeterObi at a disadvantage in the coming election, Igbo politicians will never allow #BiafraReferendum to take place. They may fight to end IPOB.”
Ekwo further stated that the administration led by the All Progressives Congress (APC) “does not respect the rule of law.”
She went on to say that voter indifference in the Southeast implies the ruling party has a good chance of keeping power in 2023.
