Popular Nigerian actor, Imeh Okon, on Thursday cautioned former President Goodluck Jonathan against contesting in the 2023 presidential elections.
There have been rumors that Jonathan may abandon the Peoples Democratic Party in favor of the All Progressives Congress in order to become the party’s presidential candidate.
In a post on his Instagram account, Okon stated that re-electing Jonathan as President will be futile since he will be unable to alter Nigeria in such a short period of time.
According to the actor, due to the extent of the harm caused by President Muhammadu Buhari’s administration, the former President will be unable to transform the country.
He begged with Jonathan to put his goals aside and continue to be the hero he is.
Okon wrote, “Rumors have it that Goodluck Jonathan is being wooed to run for president again. Abeg your excellency as tempting as it may sound, Don’t. Too much damage has been done and there is too little you can do to fix it in just a term.
“Imagine bringing Ronaldo in 90+2 minutes to turn around the fortunes of a team that is down by 7 nil what he will he do? Magic?
“Remain the legend and hero you are sir. Duck the bait.”
