The Inspector General of police have submitted the budget for the Nigeria Police Force to the House of Representatives for their approval.
The House of Representatives members who had sat on the budget, made some adjustments and reduced the budget of the police force.
During the defense, the Inspector General of police, made an appeal to the senate to be considerate and generous in their scrutinizing of the budget submitted to them.
The House of Representatives committee who sat on the budget ably led by Hon Bello from Gombe state, had reduced the budget of the Nigeria police initially at 469.4 billion to 449.6 billion Naira.

According to IGP, it takes 22.5 billion Naira to fuel police Vehicles that uses petrol engines within a year, while it takes an additional 834 million to fuel motorcycles in a year. He also stressed that they had vehicles which uses diesel engine, and this will cost the police force 1.4 billion Naira, bringing the cost of fueling automobiles to 24.8 billion Naira.
The IGP said his men are committed to serving the Nigerian masses, hence they are making request for the money with which they can mobilize and effectively discharge their duties.
