The Nigeria Christian Pilgrims Commission, NCPC, says it is ready to commence pilgrimage to Jerusalem and Rome in December.
The NCPC Executive Secretary, Reverend Yakubu Pam made this known during a visit to the Lagos House Marina, to intimate Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu of the Commission’s plan and to seek his support to ensure a successful pilgrimage.
Reverend Pam who announced that in spite of the devaluation of the naira, the Commission has reduced the cost of this year’s pilgrimage to 710 thousand naira instead of the 850 thousand naira, acknowledged that the trips to Jerusalem and Rome have been impacting positively on Nigerians.
He thanked the Lagos State Government for it’s continued support to the Commission and for all its efforts at curbing the spread of the ongoing covid-19 pandemic.
In his response, Governor Sanwo-Olu who acknowledged the place of religion in the success of Government’s programmes, reiterated his administration’s commitment to improve the quality of life of Lagosians and promise to continue to support the Commission.
He said already, his administration has commenced the first phase of a three-thousand-kilometre fiber optic network to improve internet connectivity, and after completion, another three thousand kilometres would be added to boost service delivery in telephony and other virtual services.
Correspondent Omolara Omosanya reports that Governor Sanwo-Olu also told the NCPC’s E.S his administration’s plans to leverage on the experience of covid-19 to improve the health sector.
