Following charges by certain HND students that the board failed to mobilise them to participate in their National Youth Service scheme (NYSC). Because they completed a part-time national diploma (ND) program, the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has said that the board is not involved in the admission process for higher national diploma (HND) students.
JAMB is not in charge of any other higher education programs outside of their regular admissions, according to JAMB spokesperson Fabian Benjamin, who also asserted that the board has no jurisdiction, control, or involvement in the admissions process for HND candidates.

The HND admissions of candidates are “unknown and irrelevant” to JAMB’s mission, the board continued.
“The law that established JAMB states, ‘For the avoidance of doubt, the board shall be responsible for determining matriculation requirements and conducting examinations leading to undergraduate admissions, as well as for admissions to National Diploma and Nigerian Certificate in Education courses. However, the Board shall not be responsible for examinations or any other selective processes for postgraduate courses or any other courses offered by tertiary institutions.”
In August, JAMB had earlier given institutions a 30-day ultimatum to notify any admissions made using a method other than its processing system.
