The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has picked Senator Douye Diri, the governor of Bayelsa State, as its candidate in the November 11 governorship election.
There was no other candidate in the primary, which was held at the Dr. Gabriel Okara Cultural Centre in Yenagoa on Wednesday, and Diri won it with a total of 305 votes as the only candidate for the party. This was in accordance with the PDP rule that the incumbent has the right of first refusal.
