On Tuesday morning in Lagos, members of the Air Transport Services Senior Staff Association of Nigeria (ATSSSAN) blocked the entrance gates of the Murtala Mohammed Airport 2 (MMA2) Terminal to protest the “unprovoked termination” of the appointments of 34 aviation workers by the airport terminal’s operators, the B-Courtney Aviation Services Limited (BASL).
Ibom Air and Air Peace, two airlines operating inside the airport terminal, were compelled to halt flight operations as a result of the circumstance.
Ibom Air warned passengers in a notice that the union’s action would significantly affect its flights into and out of Lagos today.

The ATSSSAN Branch Chairman, Secretary, Treasurer, and Women Leader were listed as those who would be affected by the disengagement in a strike notice, and they were said to demand “the payment of terminal benefits to staff members who exited the service of the company lawfully in accordance with the signed Conditions of Service.”
The union claimed that BASL Management acted while the parties were negotiating the aforementioned payment and that there was no evidence that the negotiations had irretrievably broken down.
It believed that the termination victimised its members and excos because they were only performing their constitutionally required tasks.
“In view of the foregoing. According to Frances Akinjole, the principal deputy general secretary of ATSSSAN, “ATSSSAN has declared industrial action against BASL and calls on all branches nationwide as well as all professional associations affiliated to ATSSSAN to withdraw services to all airlines operating into and out of the MMA2 Lagos immediately without fall.”
According to a BASL spokeswoman, the corporation originally engaged the union, but as of the time of publication, there has been no official comment on the matter.
