Two people have reported to have died while ten people were rescued when a local boat capsized last night having departed Ebute-Ero enroute Ikorodu.
The Director General of Lagos State Emergency Management Agency, Dr. Olufemi Oke-Osanyintolu in a statement said “on arrival at the scene of the incident, it was gathered that a local boat capsized as a result of violation of night time restrictions on water travel”.
The General Manager Lagos State Waterways Authority, Mr. Oluwadamilola Emmanuel said four people still missing in the incident.
Mr. Emmanuel in a statement said the Boat was said to have capsized at Owode Ibeshe, not too far away from Ikorodu. As at the time of filing this report, twenty passengers were presumed on board.
Mr. Emmanuel said LASWA Search team, Local Boat Operators, Marine Police and LASEMA convened Search and so far Eleven passengers were rescued with one person in critical condition.
He said search and rescue is still on going.
