The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) has Pius Akinyelure as its Non-Executive Board Chairman, and Mele Kyari as its Group Chief Executive Officer (GCEO) has been retained by President Bola.
The two are a part of the new board and management of the NNPCL, according to a statement released on Monday by Tinubu’s spokesperson Ajuri Ngelale. Their appointment, which complies with Section 59 (2) of the Petroleum Industry Act, 2021, takes effect on December 1, 2023, he said.

“President Tinubu anticipates the fullest measure of compliance with the performance-driven and results-oriented mandate of his Renewed Hope administration in the implementation of energy policy that will monetize all available oil and gas resources of today while paving the way for the total exploitation of new and cleaner energy sources of tomorrow by this distinguished team.”
Other members of the management board, in addition to Kyari and Akinyelure, are Chief Financial Officer Alhaji Umar Isa Ajiya, Non-Executive Directors Mr. Ledum Mitee, Non-Executive Directors Musa Tumsa, Non-Executive Directors Ghali Muhammad, Non-Executive Directors Prof. Mustapha Aliyu, Non-Executive Directors David Ogbodo, and Non-Executive Directors Eunice Thomas and Mr. Ghali Muhammad.
The nomination of Mr. Okokon Ekanem Udo as the permanent secretary of the Federal Ministry of Finance and Amb. Gabriel Aduda as the permanent secretary of the Ministry of Petroleum Resources was also approved by Tinubu.
