Bola Tinubu, the leader of the All Progressives Congress, has left Nigeria weeks after announcing his desire to run for president in 2023.
The former Lagos State governor went overseas to rest and strategize, according to a member of the Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu Movement’s Working Committees.
The source, who craved anonymity, said, “He (Tinubu) travelled abroad to rest after going around the country for consultations. He travelled to rest and strategise.”
However, the source did not specify which country Tinubu visited. He also denied that the APC leader had traveled for medical reasons.
Attempts to reach Tinubu’s spokesman, Tunde Rahman, for comment on Friday were unsuccessful since he did not answer his phone or respond to a text message sent by our correspondent.
As of press time, similar efforts to obtain the comments of Abdulmumin Jibrin, the Director-General of the Tinubu Support Group, had yielded no results.
On January 10, Tinubu paid a visit to President Muhammadu Buhari and told State House media that he had informed the President of his decision to run for the presidency in 2023.
Tinubu has since traveled to several regions of the country, including the states of Oyo, Niger, and Zamfara, to expand his political discussions.
He was, however, strangely absent during the Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu Movement’s Working Committees’ ceremonial launch in Ikeja GRA, Lagos, on Thursday.
The movement was planned and organized by members of the Lagos Governor’s Advisory Council in order to realize the politician’s presidential ambitions, and it was inaugurated by Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu.
On his way to the 11th Arewa House Lecture in Kaduna State, Tinubu, who will turn 69 in March 2021, tripped over his foot and slipped, crashing between two chairs.
Tinubu was in the United Kingdom for nearly three months in 2021, undergoing surgery and therapy for a knee injury.
The APC leader’s health has subsequently been a subject of controversy, with many Nigerians rejecting another President like Buhari, who has spent over 230 days in the United Kingdom on medical leave since taking office in May 2015.
Apart from his health, many Nigerians have recently questioned Tinubu’s educational qualifications.
However, many of Tinubu’s ardent followers claim that he is qualified to be Nigeria’s President, pointing out that he is not older than the current US President, Joe Biden, 79, or his predecessor, Donald Trump, 75.
Reno Omokri, a socio-political activist, has referred to APC National Leader Asiwaju Bola Tinubu as “another London patient” in response to his vacation abroad.
Reno warned Nigerians against voting President Muhammadu Buhari, who would flee the country’s health-care system in order to seek medical treatment in London, in a Facebook post.
He said, “Tinubu says he has jetted out to London to “rest”. Dear citizens of Nigeria, are you not tired of Buhari running to London to rest?
“Now you want to elect Tinubu, another London patient? Tinubu just returned from London three months ago. Now, he is back there. Think!
“So, there is no place to rest in Nigeria? Obudu Cattle Ranch, Yankari Games Reserve, Ikogosi Warm Springs, Argungu Fishing Community, Olumo Rock, Gashska Gumption National Park, Mambilla Plateau, are all not good enough for Tinubu. It is only London he can rest? Haba! We were not born last night.
“I did #HarassBuhariOutofLondon as my patriotic duty. It cost me money and time. Now, Tinubu has returned to London three months after he left. If you guys are foolish enough to elect another London patient in 2023, I will just enjoy myself and leave you all to your fate”!
Hi there, I found your website via Google whilst searching for a similar matter, your site got here up, it appears good. I have bookmarked it in my google bookmarks.
I know this if off topic but I’m looking into starting my own blog and was wondering what all is required to get set up? I’m assuming having a blog like yours would cost a pretty penny? I’m not very internet savvy so I’m not 100% sure. Any recommendations or advice would be greatly appreciated. Kudos
You really make it seem so easy together with your presentation however I in finding this topic to be really something which I think I might never understand. It kind of feels too complicated and very extensive for me. I am looking forward for your next submit, I will try to get the grasp of it!
