Three men were apprehended by Ogun State Police Command officers while on their way to commit a robbery.
The trio was apprehended in the Orita area of Ilaro, Yewa South Local Government Area of the State, after police recognised them as part of a robbery syndicate.
The accused were named as 27-year-old Ibiyemi Wasiri (a.k.a fellow), 20-year-old Alabi Ojugbele, and 18-year-old Obe Lekan by state police spokesman Abimbola Oyeyemi.
They were apprehended during a joint regular patrol by the police of Ilaro area command and Ilaro divisional headquarters, according to Oyeyemi.
The suspects, who were seen riding a Bajaj motorcycle with a defaced number plate, are reported to have leapt off the bike as soon as they saw the cops.
The cops pursued them and apprehended them as they bolted in separate directions.
The suspects were found with one locally manufactured pistol, four live cartridges, and various illicit charms.
“On interrogation, Ibiyemi Wasiri had informed the police that he was an ex -convict, and that he still has a pending case of unlawful possession of firearms in a magistrate court. The suspects all confessed that they were going for a robbery operation before they were arrested by the policemen.
“Meanwhile, the Commissioner of Police, Lanre Bankole, has ordered the immediate transfer of the suspects to the state criminal investigation and intelligence department for discreet investigation.”
