As the partial closure of Third Mainland Bridge begins by 12 midnight today, Friday July 24, 2020 the Lagos State Government has reiterated that motorists need not entertain any anxiety but should cooperate with traffic officers to ensure hitch free flow of traffic on that axis of Lagos.
The Special Adviser to the State Governor, Mr Babajide Sanwo-olu on Works, Mrs Aramide Adeyoye made this known while answering question on the steps taken to address the deplorable state of the roads in the State at Alausa Ikeja.
According to her, Funding for the repair of the Abule-Egba to Sango Toll Gate is available, as assured by
Minister of Works and Housing, Mr Babajide Fashola but due procurement process must be followed before the repair work will commence.
She further explained that as a State, the Government feels the pain of the residents along that axis but can’t carry out the rehabilitation because they are not sure of reimbursement.
Earlier, the State Commissioner for Transportation, Mr Frederic Oladeinde said there was need to carry out repairs of the expansion joints of the Third Mainland Bridge to ensure safety of the motorists.
The Commissioner who stated further that alternative routes are already in place for the 25 percent section affected by the road, he
appealed to motorists to give maximum cooperation to the traffic officers that would be deployed to put the situation under control, saying they are to work for 24 hours within the period.
