According to prominent writer Babajide Kolade-Otitoju, militants who kidnap Nigerians for ransom are using the money to construct homes in the neighboring nation of Niger Republic.
In yesterday’s “Journalists Hangout” segment on TVC News, Kolade-Otitoju made this comment in response to Nigerian army’ attack on the forests near Abuja and the subsequent capture of militants.
Remember that over the past few months, kidnappers had purportedly demanded at least N100m in ransom from each of the victims of the Kaduna-Abuja train tragedy.
Findings, according to him, showed that the majority of terrorists had been using the ransom money obtained in Nigeria to build tall structures in several regions of the Niger Republic.
The Group Controller (Current and Public Affairs) at TVC News claimed to have spoken with some people who had been attacked by terrorists; they confirmed that the attackers had long hair and that they were fluent in a foreign tongue.
He claims that the terrorists, who are foreigners from nearby nations, frequently use certain Nigerians as informants to keep an eye on their targets before kidnapping them for ransom.
