Babagana Monguno, the National Security Adviser (NSA), has reassured Nigerians that there is no need to be alarmed in light of recent security advisories from the United States and the United Kingdom.
Monguno revealed the information on Monday, October 31, 2022 at a press conference held at the State House following a Security Council meeting presided over by President Muhammadu Buhari. He emphasised that the alarm was just an unneeded distraction and had not yet indicated anything dangerous.
The NSA claimed that the notice was for American and British citizens and that the manner in which it was published worsened the situation, describing as false and irresponsible the perception of increased risk in Abuja as presented by the UK and the US.
The NSA told Nigerians to go about their everyday lives fearlessly because the security services are in charge and the nation is secure.

General Lucky Irabor, the Chief of Defence Staff, also spoke at the news conference. He reassured Nigerians that there was no need for concern and counselled them to have faith in the ability of the security agencies to uphold law and order.
The armed forces, the police, and other security services are working around the clock to ensure that Nigerians’ lives and property are effectively secured, Irabor added.
“So far, there is no cause for alarm and Nigerians should go about their normal duties as the armed forces and all the security agencies are well poised to protect them accordingly.”
