Caleb Blake Brown, a 17-year-old teenager, is accused of murdering his son.
The adolescent has been charged with first-degree murder in the killing of his newborn baby, Emerson Ziesmer, after police believe he killed him to avoid paying child support.
Brown was allegedly left alone with the infant in Carrolton, Texas on August 9, when the event occurred.
After that, Brown and the baby’s mother, Rachel Ziesmer, rushed Emerson to the hospital after Rachel observed the youngster was “pale and had significant bruising around his abdomen,” according to police.
Emerson was taken to Children’s Medical Center of Dallas, but he died as a result of his injuries.
Emerson had a lacerated liver, multiple displaced ribs, and an abrasion on the back of his head, according to an autopsy.
He died when he was only 24 days old.
Police said: “While he was briefly alone with the infant on the afternoon of Aug. 9, Brown alleged in a probable cause affidavit for his arrest warrant that he squeezed him and repeatedly hurled him into the air, eventually hitting the ceiling fan.”
According to Brown’s probable cause affidavit, investigators learned from cellphones and social media records that Brown was angry with the baby’s mother “for not aborting [the baby] or putting him up for adoption.”
Brown was also “concerned about having to pay child support,” the affidavit read.
Officers also collected video footage of Brown allegedly pointing his middle finger toward the youngster and referring to him as “ugly” and a “little dumb baby” on multiple occasions.
Rachel observed that this was not the first time she had heard a loud howl and walked in to see Brown “squeezing him around his stomach” when Emerson was around 10 days old, according to the court affidavit.
The same situation happened on August 9 when Brown was left alone with Emerson for “a couple of minutes” as Rachel changed in the restroom.
Rachel told police that she came out of the toilet after hearing her son “crying really loud” and discovered Brown holding him.
The mother observed the youngster was “turning green,” saw sweat beads on his face, and realized the baby had frigid hands and feet, as well as extensive bruising all over his body, around an hour later.
Out of boredom, Brown allegedly pinched the baby’s stomach and tossed the kid into the air “five times.”
He then acknowledged to squeezing the baby again after he banged his head on the ceiling fan, and he feels the final squeeze is what killed him.
Brown is still being held on a $2 million bond.
