Detectives probing the murder of Pastor Tunde Dada of the Redeemed Christian Church of God have apprehended some suspects, according to the Lagos State Police Command.
Ade Ajisebutu, the Police Public Relations Officer for the Lagos State Police Command, stated this on Thursday.
The PPRO refused to divulge the names of the suspects that were apprehended. He stated that they were still working on the matter and did not want to jeopardize their investigation.
“We have made some arrests in connection with the case,” he stated.
Dada, who also serves as the church’s accountant, is thought to have been assassinated by two young converts.
On the Sunday before the incident, the two lads were alleged to have gone to church and pledged their life to Jesus Christ when an altar call was made.
After the ceremony, the so-called new converts were claimed to have met with the church’s senior pastor and told him they were trapped and had nowhere to go.
The senior.pastor.was alleged to have been moved by this and told the slain pastor to find a place for them to remain until the church could rent a dwelling for them and begin monitoring their spiritual growth.
After the pastor returned from the bank a few days later, the new converts were claimed to have tracked him down to his office on the first floor of the church building.
They allegedly crushed his head and stabbed him numerous times until he was dead.
One of the youths is said to have fled the church.
In Ilorin, he was claimed to have been apprehended.
