The Southwest’s traditional rulers have been invited to assist Sunday Adeyemo, also known as Igboho, the Yoruba nation activist, in his efforts to drive out banditry and criminality from the area.
In a declaration he signed, Igboho bemoaned the lack of security in the area and said it was the cause of deaths and the farmer-herder conflict. He also promised to work with traditional rulers to permanently eradicate insecurity in the Southwest.

“I welcome the idea, and assure them that I will do my best to checkmate incidence of insecurity provided I receive the backing of the relevant security agencies, Yoruba monarchs and other stakeholders.
“Insecurity and threats precipitated by banditry, herders/farmers clashes, leading to deaths and massive destruction of farmlands have driven away farmers and agric entrepreneurs from farm settlements in Yorubaland.
“We must drive away the criminal forces that have taken over our forests and are utilising them as staging areas to threaten the tranquilly of our towns, villages, and amulets. In this sense, I’m prepared to offer my help,” he declared.
