As opposed to the story of lung cancer, accident, and suicide being peddled by some bloggers, the death of Nigerian comedian and On-Air personality Oluwatobi Owomoyela, better known as Peteru, in the early hours of Thursday, December 22, 2022 has been confirmed to have been caused by complications from colon cancer.
According to a source close to the family, the adored comedian, 35, who buried his father just six weeks ago, was scheduled to remarry in the first few months of 2023.

Due to his distinctive impersonation, Peteru became well-known in the comedy world, and up until his passing, he was one of the fastest-rising comics to establish a name for himself in the South-West of Nigeria. He also collaborated with some of the top Nigerian performers. In Ibadan, Oyo State, he was also an MC, a brand influencer, and an on-air personality.
The Owomoyela family announced Peteru’s passing in a statement that included a request from Peteru’s family to be given time to grieve and mourn the enormous loss.
He is survived by his mother, siblings, and son.
