Senator Ibrahim Shekarau, a former governor of Kano State, has defected from the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) to the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP).
On Tuesday night, AbdulMumin Jibrin, the former Director-General of Asiwaju Bola Tinubu’s Support Group, stated this via Twitter.
“Senator Ibrahim Shekarau has joined the NNPP. He tweeted, “Details later.”
NNPP also uploaded photos of Rabiu Kwakwanso, the party’s leader, on a visit to Shekarau on Twitter.
“His Excellency Engr Dr Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso paid a congratulatory visit today to former Gov (Sen) Ibrahim Shekarau after he decamped to NNPP,” the tweet read.
Recall that after state Governor Abdullahi Ganduje paid a visit to Shekarau and was booed by his fans, rumors arose over whether he might switch to the NNPP.
