Senator Victor Umeh, the former national chairman of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), has defected to the Labour Party (LP).
In the 2023 general elections, the APGA denied Umeh a ticket to run for the Anambra Central senatorial district seat.
InsightnaijaTV reports that the LP’s primary in Awka is still proceeding, and Umeh is expected to be nominated as the party’s candidate for Anambra Central.
Senator Uche Ekwunife of the PDP, Dozie Nwankwo of the APGA, and Kodilichukwu Okelekwe of the APC will compete for the Anambra Central Senate seat.
Recall that Peter Obi, the former governor of Anambra State who resigned from the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, has chosen the Liberation Party’s presidential ticket.
