Oyo State Deputy Governor, Rauf Olaniyan and some delegates in an attempt to attend the eighth day fidau prayer of the former Governor of Oyo State, Abiola Ajimobi were denied access into his compound, in Oluyole, Ibadan.
Olaniyan who had arrived the residence at the early hour of the day in a convoy was stopped at the gate leading to late Ajimobi residence by Officers of the Nigeria Police Force and other security agencies manning the gate. They insisted on allowing the Deputy Governor’s vehicle alone to gain access to join the prayer.
However, after so much argument at the scene, a senior police officer had to intervened and both party agreed that only the Deputy Governor’s vehicle should be allowed in.
Despite gaining access into the residence, the door was locked and the aide to the Deputy Governor’s did a quick introduction but it was said that the gate keys were with Mrs. Ajimobi. Olaniyan waiting for some minutes for the issue to be resorted but all efforts to get the State delicate into the venue was without no positive response, Olaniyan left the residence.
It will be recalled that the family had announced the fidau prayer as a private event, urging public to watch on online and other virtual channels.
Members of the State delegate include the Deputy Governor of Oyo State, Engr. Rauf Olaniyan, Alhaja Amidst Agboola, Head of Service, Barr. Abiodun Abdul-Raheem and Seun Ashamu Commissioner for land and energy.
