About 130 people were on board the Tarco Airline plane when the second group of Sudanese evacuees landed at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja at around 3 o’clock. There were two men and 128 women.
Government representatives and other people who were at the airport to meet them.
NIDCOM, the commission for Nigerians in Diaspora, had earlier tweeted about their arrival.
It read, “Today, May 5, 2023, at 8:00 am local time, the flight departed Port Sudan International Airport with 130 Nigerian citizens (Evacuees), 128 females and 2 males.

“Estimated time of arrival Port Sudan (PZU) to Juba (JUB)= 2hrs 50 min. Stopover: 1 hrs in Juba JUB to ABV = 03:30 min. Total = 7hrs 30min. The flight is expected to arrive in Abuja around 2:30 pm to 3 pm.”
Recall that late Wednesday saw the arrival of the first group of Nigerian refugees from the devastated North African nation.
They were welcomed at the airport by Sadiya Farouk, the Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Disaster Management, Abike Dabiri-Erewa, the Chairman/CEO of NIDCOM, and Ahmed Mustapha, the Director General of the National Management Emergency Agency (NEMA).
A student who was one among the returnees described his experience in Sudan as horrifying as he recounted it. Sadiq Musa Zakari, however, expressed joy at his return and pride in Nigeria.
