According to Social Democratic Party (SDP) presidential candidate Adewole Adebayo, if Nigeria’s police force was effective, half of the government would be imprisoned.
Let’s not avoid establishing a government, Adebayo remarked during the second series of presidential town-hall meetings hosted by ARISE TV and the Centre for Democracy and Development (CDD). On May 29, I’ll swear in an assisting constitution at the federal level. There is everything necessary in such constitution to end crime.

“And the two steps to take to eliminate crime is to eliminate crime within government. That is the hardest thing to do in Nigeria.
“One of the reasons why we don’t have an efficient police system is that if we had an efficient police system, half of those who are in government will be in jail.
“So, it’s not in the interest of government as it’s today, to have an effective police. But they need the police for protection. So, I will make that difference.”
African Action Congress‘ Omoyele Sowore, the Action Democratic Party’s Mallam Yabagi Sani, the All Progressives Grand Alliance’s Professor Peter Umeadi, and Adebayo were present in the second town hall.
Four presidential contenders, chosen based on the performance of their parties in a CDD online survey, were scheduled for the first of a series of town hall discussions.
Labour Party (LP), All Progressives Congress (APC), Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), and New Nigeria People’s Party were the top four parties (NNPP).
Atiku Abubakar of the PDP was represented by his running mate, while Bola Ahmed Tinubu of the APC decided not to attend.
