The Governor of Lagos State, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has called for synergy among security agencies to make Lagos safer for residents and visitors.
He made the call while playing host to the new General Officer Commanding, GOC, 81 Division of the Nigerian Army, Lagos, Major-General Godwin Umelo, at the Lagos House, Marina.
Governor Sanwo-Olu commended the role of the Nigerian Army, the Navy, Nigerian Air Force, Police and other security agencies in ensuring that Lagos remains safe and secure for investors, visitors and residents.
Noting that the work is tough, the Governor promised to cooperate with and support the new GOC, 81 DIV for him to be successful in his assignment.
Governor Sanwo-Olu also commended the Chief of Army Staff, Lt. General Tukur Buratai, for the work he is doing in term of addressing security challenges in the Country.
While commending the immediate past GOC, Major General Johnson Olu Irefin, Governor Sanwo-Olu described him as a true officer and gentleman and worthy ambassador of the Nigerian Army, who did his best during his assignment in Lagos.
In his remark, Major-General Umelo promised more support to aid the security of lives and properties of Lagosians, noting that Lagos State and Nigerian Army are partners in progress.
He also commended the Governor for his support and assistance to the military in the State, and explained that the purpose of the visit was to introduce himself to Governor Sanwo-Olu.
