Babajide Sanwo-Olu, the governor of Lagos State, and Kadiri Hamzat, his deputy, have made progress toward reelection.
At the Mobolaji Johnson Arena on Saturday, members of the state’s All Progressives Congress (APC) and other supporters from throughout the nation join them to launch the “Greater Lagos Rising” governorship campaign, which would cover the whole state’s local government districts.
The governor’s team claims that the campaign’s slogan reflects the promise of a “Greater Lagos” that the current administration has been executing and pays homage to all the young people who are putting Lagos on the map of the world, especially the creative and “tech rebels” who call Lagos home.
Sanwo-Olu, outlined his case for a second term in office in 2023 along with that of his deputy, Dr. Obafemi Hamzat.

The governor acknowledged that the large turnout of Lagosians was evidence of the strength of the city’s All Progressives Party, but he also acknowledged that his administration had faced difficulties over the past three and a half years in achieving its development goals.
“Our administration has traversed difficult terrains and witnessed major disruption occasioned by the global pandemic. Lagos had its fair share in the attendant socio-economic meltdown, but we provided strong leadership that protected the people and made the State come out better and stronger.
“Now, we can say ‘Greater Lagos Rising’ because our state is rising on all of our modest achievements through the THEMES agenda. In Transportation and Traffic Management, Lagosians are now living with the reality of the delivery of two intracity Rail Mass Transit projects that are on the verge of completion.”
