The Governor of Lagos State, Mr Babajide Sanwo-Olu on June 9, 2021, commissioned the newly constructed Ijede Local Council Development Area Secretariat
The modern edifice commissioned by the Governor was necessitated by the need to finding a lasting solution to the issue of inadequate office space for both civil servants and political office holders in the Local Council.
The new offices complex is expected to accommodate the Chairman, Vice Chairman, Secretary to Local Government, a modern Conference Room, Council Manager and Treasurer’s offices including 10 office spaces for the different departments amongst other offices.
The Governor promised that the State Government will site an Agricultural Settlement within the Council area to create employment and reduce the menace of youths restiveness in the Community. Mr. Governor further promised that the construction of a new Secondary School building for the Community will commence soon, noting that the land for the project will be visited by the Ministry of Education.
Sanwo-olu also promised to facilitate and ensure that Egbin Thermal Station improved on its Community Social Responsibility to the people of Ijede as the host community.
Mainwhile, the Lagos State Governor also commissioned the first phase of the Itamage – Ijede Road measuring 6km, he announced the approval and immediate commencement of work on phase II of the road from Ginti junction to the ferry terminal in Ijede and also announced the continuation of work at the Ijede Ferry Terminal which will be a rebranding of the old to an ultra-modern terminal.
The Council boss, Comrade Fatiu Salisu, appreciated Mr. Sanwo Olu and the State Executive Council for the massive State presence in the Council Area and used the opportunity to reaffirm his commitment to the people of Ijede
