Princewill Dike, a close associate of the late Rotimi Amaechi, minister of transportation, has sided with Nyesom Wike, governor of the state of Rivers.
According to Naija News, the leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has defected to the People’s Democratic Party.
Princewill and Amaechi are related and both are from the Ubima in the State’s Ikwerre Local Government Area.
Dike asserts that the APC is on the verge of collapse and that he cannot afford to waste his political opportunity.
The party leader claimed he had preferred ideas to resolve the problems roiling the party but none of his suggestions was taken. The party leader served as Amaechi’s Special Assistant on Student Affairs while he was the state governor.
He continued by saying that Nyesom Wike had excelled in the state, particularly in the area of infrastructure development, which was why he had chosen to set up camp with him.
“A political party is a tool for political power,” he declared. I started moaning as I saw that Rivers APC was driving straight for the edge. Unfortunately, they labelled me a prophet of doom, just as Jeremiah was by the Israelites.
“I didn’t just lament; I also proposed ways to move the ship away from the cliff, but the party likewise disregarded my suggestions.
“My suggestions were ignored. Why therefore should I stay in a party that seems destined to fail and let my political potential be wasted?
“Mr. Superb Projects (Wike) has done an admirable job; even the blind can see his infrastructural rebirth and the deaf can hear about his fantastic work,” Wike said.
“The flyovers have improved the beauty of the city, in addition to relieving traffic. In order to bring a successor who can pick up where the energetic Governor left off with the wonderful work, we must work together.
