In Thursday, a resident of the Kuryar-Madaro village in Zamfara State’s Kaura-Namoda Local Government Area stated the number of people killed in an ambush by gunmen had climbed to 19.
During the attack, the robbers set fire to 11 vehicles, including a police van, as well as a number of shops, according to him.
On Monday night, around 10 p.m., the bandits swooped on the village and began shooting indiscriminately.
On Tuesday, a total of 18 bodies were discovered.
“Eighteen corpses were discovered and buried on Tuesday,” Malam Umar Garba told Newsmen on Thursday. On Wednesday, however, another body was discovered, bringing the total number of those killed to 19.
“Hundreds of bandits arrived in town around 10 p.m., armed with weapons, and began shooting. They set fire to eleven automobiles and scores of businesses, forcing many people to flee for their lives.”
“When I left the village for Gusau last night (Wednesday), there was no presence of security personnel,” Garba said, alleging government neglect. The citizens are in complete terror since the bandits have stated that they would return.”
“The command has drafted security personnel to restore peace in the village,” said SP Mohammed Shehu, a spokeswoman for the police command, who confirmed the event.
