The Agency’s Fire Service responded to an incident at the above location on Saturday night which on arrival was fully engulfed in flames. The bungalow property comprised of 14 rooms including 5 shops and suffered extensive damage. Further investigation revealed that the cause of the fire was a faulty cooking gas valve which exploded.
The agency worked alongside the Lagos State Fire Service to extinguish the fire and the operation was concluded in just under 2 hours.
Fortunately, no casualties were recorded although the entire building has been destroyed and will require integrity testing by LABSCA and has been cordoned off accordingly.
Residents are urged to keep off the scene and members of the public are encouraged to ensure that their gas cylinders are in good condition.
