The House of Representatives passed a resolution on Thursday inviting INEC Chairman Mahmood Yakubu to brief the House on the expense of holding direct primaries in the country.
Representative Leke Abejide made the motion to invite Yakubu during plenary, telling the House that it was critical to address rumors about the exorbitant expense of holding direct primaries.
The INEC Chairman would testify before the Appropriations and Electoral Matters Committees on the matter.
According to Abejide, there are rumors that conducting direct primaries will cost N500 billion.
