AUS magistrate has urged that a civil complaint filed against Manchester United star Cristiano Ronaldo for alleged rape be rejected completely.
Daniel Albregts, a magistrate judge in the United States district court for the district of Nevada, according to BBC Sports reported by InsightnaijaTV, made the recommendation ahead of a final decision before a separate judge.
Remember that Kathryn Mayorga sued Ronaldo in 2010 for alleged rape at a Las Vegas hotel, but the two parties settled for $375,000 out of court.
In 2019, prosecutors opened a criminal investigation on Ronaldo when new allegations from the alleged victim surfaced, however prosecutors decided not to press charges because the allegations may be proven false. “not be proven beyond reasonable doubt”.
Mayorga’s lawyers, Leslie Mark Stovall, filed a civil complaint for further compensation, but it was dismissed by Albregts for inappropriate behavior.
The judge warned that instituting a case based on evidence from leaked papers could have “dangerous consequences” for the legal process.
“Dismissing Mayorga’s case for the inappropriate conduct of her attorney is a harsh result,” Albregts wrote.
