According to reports, French President Emmanuel Macron plans to watch Sunday’s FIFA World Cup final in Qatar with a number of injured Les Bleus players.
In the decisive encounter at the Lusail Stadium, Didier Deschamps’ team faces Lionel Messi and Argentina in what will be France’s second consecutive World Cup final after their victory against Croatia in Moscow four years ago.
This time, their path to the championship game is all the more remarkable because they played the entire tournament without the star-studded trio of Paul Pogba, N’Golo Kante, and Karim Benzema due to injury.
The midfield duo of Pogba and Kante propelled France to the championship in Russia, and Real Madrid striker Karim Benzema is the current Ballon d’Or winner.

If it can be accomplished, the trio will also be invited to the final together with Macron, according to Marca.
“I am aware that he is eager to participate and that it is being researched. Amelie Oudea-Castera, France’s sports minister, was cited as stating, “We’ll see if it’s doable.
However, given the allegations of a falling out with Deschamps, it is unclear whether Benzema would accept such an offer in particular.
The 34-year-old marksman had initially been a part of the French team before the competition, but a pre-tournament injury forced him to withdraw from team activities.
Now that he is well, Benzema has played for Real Madrid in a friendly match; yet, when pressed by the media this week, Deschamps refused to consider the possibility of bringing him back into the squad.
When questioned about it during a press conference, he responded, “Next question.”
Claims of hypocrisy in connection with an ongoing corruption investigation linking the Gulf state to the EU have made Macron’s visit to Qatar more complex.
Although Macron dismissed any charges of improper behaviour when questioned about the matter this week, an investigation is currently being conducted to ascertain whether Doha provided financial support to EU ministers in exchange for influence over policy-making.
He told reporters, “I’m entirely at ease with it.”
“Four years ago, I backed the French team in Russia, and I’m backing them in Qatar.”
