The funeral for Queen Elizabeth II won’t be attended by Russian President Vladimir Putin, according to Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov on Friday, September 09, 2022.
Russians “respect” the queen “for her wisdom,” according to Peskov, but Putin’s presence during the funeral is not an option.

The spokesperson noted that a choice will shortly be made on the representative for Russia at the ceremony.
One of the foreign leaders to send his condolences to the royal family on Thursday was Russian President Vladimir Putin, who wished King Charles III “courage and resilience.”
The Russian president thanked the queen in a statement on Thursday, saying that she had earned the love and respect of her citizens and had long held sway over international affairs.
In 2003, the queen welcomed Putin and his spouse at Buckingham Palace.
On September 19, the state funeral is anticipated to take place at Westminster Abbey.
