On Sunday, October 09, 2022 Russian President Vladimir Putin referred to the attack on the significant bridge connecting Russia to its occupied area of Crimea as “a terrorist act” that was planned and carried out by Ukrainian secret services.
A day earlier, what Moscow has claimed was a truck bomb struck the Kerch Bridge, which is both strategically and symbolically to Russia in its waning war in Ukraine. A crucial supply route for the Kremlin’s forces was damaged when road and rail traffic on the bridge was momentarily stopped.
According to Bastrykin, the attack was carried out by Russian and foreign nationals as well as Ukrainian secret services. He said that a criminal inquiry had been opened into a terrorist incident.
“There’s no doubt it was a terrorist act directed at the destruction of critically important civilian infrastructure of the Russian Federation,” Putin said during a meeting with the chairman of Russia’s Investigative Committee, Alexander Bastrykin. “And the authors, perpetrators, and those who ordered it are the special services of Ukraine.”

“We have already established the route of the truck,” he said, saying it had been to Bulgaria, Georgia, Armenia, North Ossetia and Krasnodar, a region in southern Russia.
Putin’s charge was described by presidential advisor Mikhail Podolyak as “extremely cynical even for Russia” in Kyiv.
He asked, “Putin accuses Ukraine of terrorism? “It has just been 24 hours after Russian bombers launched 12 rockets into a Zaporizhzhia residential neighbourhood, leaving 13 people dead and more than 50 injured. No, there is just one state terrorist, and everyone is aware of him.
Podolyak mentioned missile attacks on the city of Zaporizhzhia overnight that resulted in the collapse of a significant portion of an apartment complex. According to the Ukrainian air force, the six missiles were fired from Russian-occupied territory in the Zaporizhzhia region.
