President Muhammadu Buhari has on Saturday described the dissolution of the National Working Committee (NWC) of the All Progressive Congress (APC) has a step aimed to pull back the party, faced with an existential crisis from the brink of collapse.
President Buhari in a statement by his Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, Garba Shehu, denied having a rift with national leader of the APC, Asiwaju Bola Hammed Tinubu.
He noted that President Buhari and apex leader of the party Asiwaju Bola Tinubu are the founding father of the APC and inspired by democratic norms, national interest and not partisan motivations.
“we are concerned that political vulturism masquerading as “smart analysis” is selling the commentary that this is a Bihari-Tinubu showdown. Nothing can be farther from the truth”
He noted that the relationship between the duo remain strong as opposition parties have attempted with their intellectual to break what he described as “enviable relationship” and failed.
He stressed that the essence of decision on the party was to save APC from imminent-destruction.
“We have to take everyone with us and ensure the party is run in accordance with democratic norms and with consensus. We have to work for the benefit of the country.”
