Pope Francis on Monday, June 06, 2022 condemned the killing of over 50 worshippers at St. Francis Catholic Church in Owo, Ondo State by unidentified terrorists on Sunday.
In a tweet, the Catholic pontiff said: “I was deeply saddened to learn of the horrific attack at Saint Francis church in Owo in #Nigeria. #PrayTogether for all those affected by this act of unspeakable violence and for the conversion of those blinded by hatred and violence.”
The pope assures “all those who are affected by this unspeakable act of violence of his spiritual closeness”, he said.
The incident which sent the nation into mourning has been condemned by Nigerians, including President Muhammadu Buhari and many state governors.
