Unrest has been reported in Osogbo, the capital of Osun State, following the shooting of a journalist by Nigeria Police Force officers.
Toba Adedeji, a staff member of The Nation newspaper, was reportedly shot while covering a demonstration involving a group of young people in the state capital.
According to InsightnaijaTV, the demonstrators gathered under the Olaiya flyover to condemn the alleged police assassination of their colleague.
They said that security operatives killed and buried their comrade on Ilesa road.
According to reports, a group of police officers appeared on the site and began spraying tear gas and live bullets at the demonstrators.
Toba, who was covering the event, was shot under the bridge in the process. He was shot in the thigh, according to InsightnaijaTV, and another individual, a student, was also injured.
According to Vanguard, Toba is being treated at the Osun State University Teaching Hospital in Osogbo.
According to reports, the officers engaged in the shooting incident were from the Housing Estate Police Station on Ring Road.
