Following his detention at the Court of Appeal in Abuja on Thursday night, police in Abuja freed activist Omoyele Sowore.
His detention was allegedly prompted by a petition signed by Hon Ned Nwoko, a former member of the House of Representatives.
Sowore personally confirmed his release from the former SARS office in the federal capital territory’s Guzape neighbourhood.
According to him in a tweet, “Released from Nigeria Police Force idiotic arrest and detention. They claimed I defamed Ned Nwoko! Useless people. RevolutionNow #WeCantContinueLikeThis.”
Inibehe Effiong, a human rights lawyer and activist, also claimed that Ned Nwoko, a former politician and husband of Nollywood actress Regina Daniels, was behind Omoyele Sowore’s detention on Thursday.
