The Situation Room of All Progressive Congress, APC, governorship candidate Umar Bago in the state of Minna was stormed by Niger State Police Command agents.
Abdulberqy Ebbo, the director of digital and strategic communications for the Bago campaign organisation, claimed that on Sunday, police broke into the structure and ransacked the situation room while claiming to be acting on a tip from someone.
Before the APC-favored polls on Saturday, Ebbo said that the Divisional Police Officer in charge of the search had received reliable information that IEC personnel had been in the building with critical papers.
He claimed that as he approached the building, he saw several PDP members standing nearby and realised the report appeared to have been generated by them.

He said, “I got a call that the Situation Room was being searched by the police. I rushed there and asked the DPO what was going on and he said they were informed that INEC staff were in the Situation Room thumbprinting ahead of the governorship elections of Saturday.

Abiodun Wasiu, the state police’s public relations officer, responded by stating that two people had been detained for spreading false information and attempting to disturb the calm in the state.
“On Sunday, around 3pm, information was received that some persons were found in a building at Bosso Estate thumbprinting ballot papers towards the forthcoming governorship elections in the state.
“Unfortunately, on entering the building and based on preliminary investigation, it was discovered that the information was false.”
