The assassination of a young lady, Ebunoluwa Osatuyi, by unidentified persons in her father’s house in the Okuta Elerinla district of Akure, the state capital, has prompted police in Ondo State to launch an investigation.
Before her unfortunate death, Osatuyi, 20, was pursuing admission to a university, according to InsightnaijaTV.
She was reported to have been murdered immediately after returning from a coaching center where she had been taking tutorials in preparation for the upcoming Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination.
According to a local source, the alleged killers forced their way into the house through the windows and plundered all of the rooms.
As of the time of reporting this report, the reason for the young lady’s death was unknown.
Bosede Osatuyi, the deceased’s mother, said she saw her daughter in a pool of blood when she returned home from work on the tragic day, adding that she also noticed an axe and a pestle in the sitting room where the victim was killed.
She said, “My husband and I entered the sitting room and found our daughter with her two hands tied with rope on the floor. She was bleeding profusely and we also found the axe and a pestle with a bloodstain on the chair including a rope hung on the fan.
“We quickly rushed her to the hospital immediately where she was confirmed dead before we went to the police station to report.”
She urged the state government and security services to track down the killers and bring them to justice.
When contacted, Funmilayo Odunlami, the state Police Public Relations Officer, confirmed the occurrence and stated that an inquiry into the matter had begun.
“The parents are not suspecting anybody but we have commenced investigation into the matter,” Odunlami stated.
