The Labour Party (LP) and Peter Obi, its presidential candidate, claimed on Wednesday that they received 25% of the votes necessary in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) during the 2023 presidential election on February 25. The claims were rejected by the Presidential Election Petitions Tribunal (PEPT), which is chaired by Justice Haruna Tsammani.
According to the Labour Party (LP) and Peter Obi, its presidential candidate, neither Atiku Abubakar of the Peoples Democratic Party (15%) nor President Bola Tinubu of the All Progressives Congress (19%) received up to 25% of the votes in the Nigerian capital.

However, dismissing the claim, the five-member tribunal stated that Abuja is like the other 36 states of the federation and that citizens of the FCT do not enjoy any special benefits in its decision.
