Peter Obi, the Labour Party’s presidential candidate, has vowed to reverse the present trend of sending young people and children from Nigeria overseas due to a growing lack of possibilities there.
In Lagos on Tuesday, Mr. Valentine Ozigbo, a former PDP candidate for governor, was officially welcomed into the Labour Party. Obi spoke at the event.
Obi claimed that the Labour Party’s goal is to seize power and then return the nation to the people, noting that Brazil once had a similar situation with Nigeria but is now self-sufficient and exports agricultural goods.
He reaffirmed the party’s objective, which is for the country to switch from consumption to production.
“The wealth of a nation is not determined by the landmass but the level of production in the country. Nigeria is not a producing nation, let’s go out and produce. Prayer is not enough, we must go out to work.
“We dont want Nigerians keeping their children in Canada. Canadians don’t send their children here. Today, Nigerian parents are exporting their children abroad and are living alone here in empty homes. We must reverse it. We must bring back our children. To change the nation we must make it stable and safe for all. People still think it will be business as usual, no. We must reverse it.”
