Peter Obi, the Labour Party’s nominee for president in the election on February 25th, has stated that he has always lived in accordance with the law and that he will “never knowingly break any law,” despite reports that he was detained by UK immigration at London’s Heathrow Airport in early April.
The former governor of Anambra State was detained and questioned for a duplicate offence, according to a statement released by the Labour Party last Wednesday, which hinted that he may have been impersonated in London.

The party claims that after being interrogated for a considerable amount of time, Obi was ultimately spared by the unplanned action of Nigerians at Heathrow Airport.
Since the incident was reported, neither UK immigration nor Obi have commented on it. However, in a tweet on Tuesday, Obi claimed that while people are likely to make errors, he will never deliberately breach any laws and that he is not “afraid of the lies and propaganda against my person.”
“There may be more mud slinging from those who are against the emergence of the New Nigeria but, I would never be deterred by the obstacles along the way to victory. I have always lived my life in the most law abiding manner.
“Sometimes as humans, we make mistakes but, I will never knowingly break any law. I am therefore not afraid of the lies and propaganda against my person. They are part of the journey to a New Nigeria,” he tweeted.
