Nigerian musician, Seun Kuti has rejected Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu’s invite for a peace walk as part of efforts to ensure harmony in the state.
Speaking on Channels TV’s Politics Today on Tuesday, Kuti said the first step to ensuring peace in the state is to ensure justice for all victims of police brutality and human rights abuses.
“I don’t need to walk next to the governor before there is peace in Lagos.
“The governor should walk the walk he is talking about by bringing about justice. The governor is not an embodiment of justice, Seun Kuti is not an embodiment of justice, Falz is not an embodiment of justice, Mr Macaroni is not an embodiment of justice and also,” he said.
In a post shared on his Instagram story, Seun Kuti rejected and rubbished the peace walk saying that he is working for justice.
He wrote: ‘Walk for peace’ I am working for justice. birds-eye view. Tonight. Seun Kuti is listening to walking away by Craig David.
Seun Kuti’s reaction is coming a few hours after Falz in a post shared on the microblogging platform Twitter, opined that the suggestion of a walk for peace sounds like a joke and very disrespectful.
Falz recalled how people were murdered in cold blood, and no iota of justice has been served for more than a year after the incident.
The rapper questioned Sanwo-Olu on how there be peace when justice has not been served on behalf of Nigerians who had their lives snatched away by the armed forces.
