Hajiya Yar-Sokoto Jega, the Women’s Leader of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for Kebbi Central, Kebbi State, has defected to the APC (APC).
Jega stated this during his remarks at a ceremony on Wednesday in Birnin Kebbi.
She claimed that the unjust treatment and the absence of effective leadership led her to leave the party.
Jega added that she joined the party with more than 800 followers and cited Gov. Atiku Bagudu’s multiple accomplishments as the reason for her decision to join the APC.
“I have been in PDP for many years, they have nothing to show to people and we have been neglected by the party.
“I even use my money for the cause of the party, but yet I have not seen any change with my people, especially the women that I represent.
“Prior to my defection, I was in charge of eight local government areas under the PDP, I left with most of my followers,” Jega said.
The state APC chairman, Alhaji Abubakar Kana-Zuru, the head of the APC Elders Forum, Alhaji Sani Zauro, and the governor’s personal assistant, Alhaji Faruk Musa-Yaro, were among the dignitaries present at the occasion.
